QR code queuing

QR code queue system for events

Guests scan a QR code, join the line in their phone's browser and go and enjoy the event. Cue holds their place and sends a WhatsApp message when it's their turn. No app to download, no paper tickets.

The flow

How scan-to-join works

  1. 1ScanThe guest points their camera at a QR code on a sign, a screen or a printed card. The Cue pass opens in the browser straight away.
  2. 2ChooseThey pick the experience, set their group size and accept any waiver or age declaration the experience needs.
  3. 3ConfirmA first name and a mobile number are enough. Registered guests arriving from an email link are greeted by name and skip the form.
  4. 4ExploreTheir place is held. The pass shows where they stand, the live wait and what fits before their turn.
  5. 5Get calledWhen the station is ready, a WhatsApp message and an on-screen banner tell them to head over, with a code to show the marshal.

The same flow works from an NFC tag or a link in a registration email, so the QR code is one way in among several, not the only one.

Signage

Where to put the QR codes

A QR code only helps if people see it before they reach the end of a line. A few placements tend to do most of the work:

  • At the entrance, with a short line such as "Scan to join the queue" and the experiences it covers.
  • At each station, so guests who walk up can join that experience directly.
  • On venue screens, next to the live waits, so the code and the reason to scan sit together.
  • On printed cards for staff to hand out when a station gets busy.

Keep the codes large, high-contrast and at eye level, and add a plain sentence saying what happens after the scan. One code can open the full list of experiences, or each station can have its own code that opens it directly. We help plan the signage during set-up so it matches your floor plan.

No download

No app, just the browser

Asking guests to download an app at the door loses many of them before they start. Cue runs in the phone's browser on iPhone and Android, so the pass opens straight away and there is nothing to install. Guests can add it to their home screen if they like, and it copes with weak venue signal.

The pass carries your brand, colours and domain, so guests see your event, not ours.

Alerts

Alerts on WhatsApp, in English and Arabic

Once a guest has joined, Cue keeps them informed: a get-ready message one run ahead, then the call itself with their code. Messages go out as WhatsApp queue notifications, with SMS and email as fallbacks, in English or Arabic depending on the language the guest chose. In Arabic the pass switches to a full right-to-left layout.

For your team

What your staff see

Behind the QR code sits a staff console on a tablet. Marshals see the line, call the next group in one tap, check guests in by their code and add walk-ups for people without a phone. Venue screens show the codes being called, so nobody has to shout names across a busy floor. Every action reaches the guest's phone and the screens straight away.

Want to see it running? Open the live demos, put the guest app on your phone and call yourself from the console. Planning the signs? Read our guide to QR code queue signage. For the bigger picture, read about the full virtual queue system or queue management in the UAE.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

All questions

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Scanning the QR code opens the Cue pass in the phone's browser. Nothing is installed, and guests can add it to their home screen if they want quick access.

What about guests without a smartphone?

Staff add them from the console in walk-up mode, or at a tablet by the entrance. Cue gives them a short code, which staff read out and which appears on the venue screens when it's their turn.

Can one QR code cover several queues?

Yes. One code can open the list of every experience, and guests can hold up to two places at once. You can also print a separate code for each station that opens that experience directly.

Can the QR code and the pass carry our branding?

Yes. The signage is yours to design, and the pass uses your colours, copy and domain. Messages go out under your sender name.

How quickly can a guest join?

In a few taps: scan, choose the experience and group size, enter a first name and mobile number, and confirm. Guests arriving from a registration link skip the form.

Put a QR code where the line used to be.
